The Radnor Township Police Department recently urged residents to remain vigilant as officers investigate “a series of residential burglaries in the Wayne and Villanova neighborhoods of the township.”

“In each incident, high value and costume jewelry was stolen from the homes. The commonality between each appears to be that the subject(s) enter the second-floor windows or doors and immediately locate the master bedroom. Once inside the subject(s) remove a pillowcase from the bed and fill the case with valuable jewelry or items in plain view.”

The crimes included:

• Oct. 22: Police were dispatched to the first block of Orchard Lane in Wayne for a burglary in progress. The victim reported seeing a male figure in a second-floor bedroom before retreating and calling police. Entry was gained through a second-floor bedroom.

• Oct. 23: Police were dispatched to the first block of Ithan Woods Lane in Villanova for a burglary discovered. The homeowner located a rear window forced open with entry gained into the residence.

• Oct: 27: Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Brooke Farm Road in Wayne for a burglary discovered. The homeowner located French doors on the second floor forced open.

The department urged residents:

• When leaving your home for short or extended periods of time, register your residence with the township’s Vacant Watch Program.

• Look up the crime prevention tips at the police department website.
