In late January, ESF (Education, Sports, Fun summer camp programs) and Dream Camp hosted their 2022 Winter Awards Ceremony and brunch at the Merion Cricket Club in Haverford. More than 150 people were in attendance, including ESF executives, family, friends, ESF leadership teams and directors from all locations. At the event the Winter Awards ceremony honored Master Teachers and Ichiban award winners from the past summer along with announcing the very special Signature Award the Mark Solomon Award.
This year’s Mark Solomon Award went to Gregg Lipschik, MD. Dr. Lipschik is an NIH-trained critical care specialist and pulmonologist. He is co-director of the Penn Medicine Clinical Simulation Center, director of the Patient Safety Fellowship at The Philadelphia VA Hospital. Dr. Lipschik has won numerous teaching awards teaching several courses and venues. As Michael Rouse said, “The Mark Solomon Make a Difference Award is named after Mark Solomon, a special friend of ESF in recognition of who he is and all that he has done.”
The award embodies the following philosophy: Some people make the world a better place just by being in it. Mark Solomon is that type of person. Mark has committed his life to improving the lives of under served children throughout the world. He has played a vital role in the success of Dream Camp Philadelphia since its beginnings in 2002. So, each year, ESF recognizes one team member who has made an especially significant and lasting impact in his/her community with the Mark Solomon Make a Difference Award. Like Mark Solomon, Gregg Lipschik, MD was honored for his good works, his selflessness and for making a difference.
ESF (Education, Sports and Fun) hosts summer camps and Dream Camp in which all the programs are focused on creating a safe, fun, positive environment for campers, parents and staff. Dream Camp teaches children with the goal to transform lives through innovative yearlong programs that nurture the individual, educate the mind and inspire the spirit.
