For more than 70 years Main Line Newcomers has welcomed women who recently moved to the area, women who are looking to meet new friends or want to experience everything our area has to offer. Newcomers was first organized in Bryn Mawr but today welcomes 150 members who live on or near the Main Line.  And the Newcomer name could be said to be a misnomer in that many members have been with the club for over 30 years!   Lifelong friendships have been made through the Main Line Newcomers.  The Club offers a wide-ranging set of activities such as two monthly Book Groups – daytime and evening, lunches at local restaurants, Happy Hour Meet and Greets, cooking adventures, a Speaker Series, Dragon Boat racing, Welcome Walkers, a Holiday Luncheon and much more.

A very popular Club activity is the Gallivanters Group.  The Gallivanters consider themselves urban adventurers!  Each month the group discovers a hidden local gem or a unique take on the typical tourist sites.  There is so much to explore in the region. Past explorations have included the Wharton Esherick House, Penn Museum, Washington Square, the University of Pennsylvania campus, City Hall and the Masonic Temple.  Other adventures outside of Philadelphia included a trip to the Culinary Institute of America, Jenkins Arboretum, Fonthill Castle and the Grounds for Sculpture.    Each outing could include taking the train, bus or carpooling, and oftentimes members also have lunch at a local restaurant.   A new member recently remarked that because of the Gallivanters trips to the city, she is now becoming more familiar with Philadelphia and is comfortable taking the train on her own.
