Phillies home opener at Citizens Bank Park postponed

Thursday was set to be Opening Day for the Philadelphia Phillies taking on the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park, but the weather forecast has caused the team to postpone the game until Friday, March 29 at 3:05 p.m.

The Phillies announced the move Wednesday.

Phillies Executive Vice President David Buck said the team consulted with Major League Baseball and several weather forecasting services before making the decision. The National Weather Service is predicting an 80% chance of rain Thursday with a high of 53 degrees.

“The open date on Friday gives us the ability to reschedule the game,” he said in a statement released on Wednesday and in a post on X.

All tickets for Thursday’s sold-out game will be valid for Friday’s game. On-field pregame festivities are set to begin at 2:20 p.m. and gates will open at 12:35 p.m.

The scheduled giveaway, a Phillies scarf courtesy of Nemours Children’s Health, will still be presented to all fans.
