The National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, N.J., canceled the winter storm warning for Delaware County and the other areas of the Philadelphia suburbs before 7 a.m. Saturday, expecting the last of the snow to move through by 9 a.m.
The warning had been scheduled to run through 10 a.m.
Ditto for the winter weather advisories in the area. Both were still active an hour to the north.
The snow accumulations were mainly on nonpaved surfaces thanks to treated roads and the temperature in the range of the freezing mark during the snowfall.
A snowfall total at Philadelphia International Airport was not yet available. The total precipitation there for the storm was only 0.19 inch. The seasonal snow total at the airport was 8.6 inches before Friday. Seasonal totals were a good deal higher at nonofficial stations in the county.
Some of the totals available Saturday were Morton, 3.4 inches; Upper Chichester, 3.3; Boothwyn, 3.2; and Aston, 3.1. Those were reported by the weather service office in Mount Holly, N.J., and the CoCoRaHS collaborative.
AccuWeather says this for Saturday: “Breezy with a blend of sunshine and clouds this afternoon; watch for slippery spots early,” with a high near 40 degrees.
Next will be the refreezing overnight. The weather service said this: “With a fresh snow pack and clearing skies, will have a set up for a cold night tonight. The only thing that may limit radiational cooling is that winds could stay up near 10 mph through the night. Lows are forecast to range from the lower teens to lower 20s.”
The latter is across the entire forecast area for the office. Delaware County will be on the top end of that range.
The AccuWeather forecast continues with a cold Sunday morning but warming to the low 40s by afternoon. The workweek will feature a warming trend each day, peaking with a high in the mid-50s on Wednesday and Thursday.
