LOWER MERION – The Second Annual Shavuot Picnic is celebrated at Beth David Reform Congregation on Tuesday, June 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. Nestled in the woods in Gladwyne at 1130 Vaughan Lane, Beth David invites participants to come together to receive the Torah in a festive celebration with food, music, arts and crafts, basketball, and gaga … even a moon bounce!
There will be Torah Table with Jewish Learning for all ages and a Mitzvah Project to get involved in “tikkun olam” (repairing the world). Younger children will love the Dance Playground with Camp Director Sarah of Harmony Summer Camp at Beth David. Camp begins August 12 and runs through August 30. There will be a bonfire with singing and drumming, and—of course—smores.
Food includes pizza, blintzes, salad, cheesecake, popcorn, and other treats (including vegan and non-dairy options). And there will be a free ice cream truck starting at 6 p.m.
Adult Learning will follow led by Rabbi Beth Kalisch.
Rabbi Elisa Koppel, Director of Education, says, “Last year, this event was such a great way to celebrate a holiday in a way that honors the traditions, and enables participants of all ages to festively enjoy Shavuot. It’s so important for kids—and adults—to continually create positive and lasting Jewish memories.”
