Lower Merion’s Brian Yi captured the Central League boys tennis singles tournament title April 15, defeated Conestoga’s Chait Krishna, 6-2, 6-3, in the championship finals.
In the semifinals, Yi defeated Lower Merion teammate Mark Lancaster, 6-1, 6-3, while Krishna defeated Conestoga teammate Voyin Markovic, 6-4, 6-2. In the third-place match, Lancaster defeated Markovic, 6-7 (5), retire (injury). In the fifth-place match, Ashrith Settivari of Garnet Valley defeated Radnor’s Antonio Fidelibus 6-0, retired (injury).
The Central League will send the top six finishers to the District 1 singles tournament which will start April 21.
After an opening round bye, Yi defeated Upper Darby’s Isack Mavorga, 6-0, 6-0, in the second round; then defeated Penncrest’s Jatin Prabhakar, 6-1, 6-0, in the third round to advance to the semifinals.
