District champion Lower Merion wins PIAA 6A boys basketball tourney opener

After capturing the PIAA District 1 6A boys basketball championship, Lower Merion (26-1) defeated District 3 sixth-place finisher Cedar Crest 85-55, in its PIAA 6A state tournament opener March 9.

In Lower Merion’s win, their last home game of the season and played before a capacity crowd, five Aces scored in double figures – John Mobley (17 points). Jayden Robinson (14, including two dunks), Carson Kasmer (14, including four treys), Owen McCabe (13) and Adam Herrenkohl (11).

With the victory, the Aces advanced to the second round of the PIAA 6A state tourney, where they will play District 12 6A third-place finisher Archbishop Wood March 13 at Bensalem High School.
