Summertime and the fun is flowing in Fishtown and Manayunk.

Fishtown Taps, a summer-long weekly happy hour, will run every Tuesday through Oct. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m., with drink deals at over two dozen bars, breweries and restaurants.

“Last year we introduced ‘Fishtown Taps’ as a way to bring people to Fishtown and Kensington during the week with the incentive of specialty cocktails, beer, and wine,” said Fishtown District Executive Director Marc Collazzo. “We are excited to once again see the street filled with new shoppers and visitors. This extends not only to the participating establishments, but the retail stores, shops, and services that are here as well.”

Look for $5 beers, $6 wines, $7 signature cocktails as many Fishtown Taps locations will offer discounted and/or special appetizer and small plate specials.

Fishtown District will partner with the app FYND to showcase the specials and weekly updates all summer long.

Participants will include Alamodak Middle Eastern Grill, Bottle Bar East, Cedar Point, Evil Genius Beer Company, Fette Sau, Fishtown Social, Fishtown Tavern, Five Iron Golf, Frankford Hall, Front Street Café, Garage, Interstate Drafthouse, Izakaya Fishtown, Kraftwork, LMNO, Lloyd Whiskey Bar, Murph’s, Punch Buggy Brewing, R&D, Saint Lazarus Bar, Sancho Pistola’s, Stateside Vodka Bar, The International Bar, Two Robbers Fishtown and others.

For updates on locations, specials and more, download FYND app for weekly updates.

Meanwhile, get your weekend going in Manayunk.

Stroll the Street will return every Thursday until Aug. 29.

Main Street Manayunk will come alive with monthly themes, weekly activations, live music, local artists, outdoor vendors, happy hour specials, and shopping deals all while leaning into the neighborhood’s creative community.

Weekly stroll activities will start at 5 p.m., with street vending ending at 8 p.m.

“Stroll has quickly become a fun, hyperlocal event in Manayunk highlighting the community, local businesses and vendors, and artists,” said Manayunk Development Corp. Events Coordinator Caitlin Marsilii. “We’re really excited to lean into the neighborhood’s creative side in creating community driven art projects, performances, and concerts. All are welcome to paint, sing, play, or dress up their dog on the MNYK Artbox.”

Merchant/restaurant deals running throughout the night. Weekly themes for 2024 will center around art in June, music in July and pets in August.

Back for another year is the popular MNYK Artbox which will host art demos, interactive installations, musical performances, a doggie fashion show, and more.

The event spans Green Lane to Shurs Lane in collaboration with Manayunk’s many businesses.

There is no charge to attend. Food and drink are pay as you go. Stroll the Street will not take place on July 4, and it is not rain or shine. Updates regarding weather and schedule changes can be found on the website.

Another rite of summer, the 35th annual Manayunk Arts Festival returns June 22 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and June 23 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

The tradition of being the tri-state area’s largest outdoor juried art festival will continue as Main Street hosts approximately 300 different local and nationally known artists and crafters.

Over 100,000 collectors, buyers, and designers will visit Main Street for this iconic event. Outside of the art and crafts, visitors can also find food and drink vendors, merchant specials, live art demonstrations and much more.

The event is no charge to attend and family friendly. For event info and updates, visit www.manayunk.com/events.

“We’re very proud of the Emerging Artist Program as we get to see so many new artists grow into festival artists, not only with the Manayunk Arts Festival, but with other festivals, shows, and circuits too,” said Marsilii. “With this year’s expansion in collaboration with PHS Pop Up Garden at Manayunk, we are excited to offer even more opportunities to emerging artists.”

Joan Boroff Denenberg, a marketing and retail strategy consultant for Manayunk, was there 30 years ago setting up the street. Her mother, Barbara Boroff, was the original promoter who brought the artists to Main Street.

“We were on the street marking and remarking up to 3 a.m. in the morning before the show,” Denenberg said. “We had no idea how the event would go and just crossed our fingers that year one was good enough to think about year two … the sun shined all weekend, the street was packed, we were featured on the front cover of the local paper … we knew we had something that would last and change Manayunk.”

Joan and her now 89-year-old mother will be celebrating 35 years and most certainly making yet again another craft or art purchase.

The Emerging Artist Program allows young artists to begin showing and selling their work.

Each artist is allowed to participate as an emerging artist for up to three years and then are extended an invitation to participate in the show.

Many of the emerging artists are now regular participants in the show. This year, 30 emerging artists will be featured in the Main Street Emerging Artist tents sponsored by The Main Street Team at Copper Hill Real Estate and Winnie Clowry, in addition to 25 emerging artists in the garden being featured at the PHS Pop Up Garden.

The tents will be located on Grape Street and Roxborough Avenue, and PHS Pop Up Garden on Jamestown Avenue.
