LOWER MERION — Later this month, a special event is scheduled in Ardmore. Arab and Jewish musicians of the Polyphony String Quartet will perform at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church.
A Nazareth-based not-for-profit is working in hopes of bridging the divide between Arab and Jewish communities through Western classical music education and performances.
“Particularly during such highly polarizing times, music and the arts can bring diverse musicians, audiences and communities together, inspiring empathy, communication, and hope,” according to a press release on the concert.
Music such as Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 1 Op. 12 and Mozart’s Duo No. 1 for Violin and Viola in G Major will be performed along with works by Bach, Hindemith, Gliere, and Dvorak.
Following the concert, Nabeel Abboud Askar, Polyphony’s co-founder and executive director, will hold a conversation with a questions and answer session.
The concert is scheduled for May 21 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 415 E. Athens Ave. Ardmore. Street parking will be available.
