FORT WASHINGTON —More than $2.87 million in funding was allocated toward infrastructure and traffic safety upgrades in a recent round of state grants, state Sen. Maria Collett’s office said Tuesday.

The monies were designated through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, according to a spokesperson for the Democratic state senator representing the 12th District. Projects will take place throughout Montgomery County, in several areas, including Ambler, along with Hatfield, Lower Moreland and Montgomery, and Upper Moreland townships.

• Upper Moreland Township: $897,375 for rehabilitation efforts for the Maryland Road bridge.

• Lower Moreland Township: $433,442 for sidewalk construction along Byberry Road.

• Hatfield Township: $393,750 for roadway and sidewalk improvements to support the development of a new police facility.

• Montgomery Township: $210,986 for the installation of a rectangular rapid-flashing beacon on Stump Road.

Additionally, PREIT Associates LP, of Philadelphia, was designated a $435,312 award to reconfigure access roads to the Plymouth Meeting Mall, according to a state spokesperson. Ambler Lakeview Development, LP, also received $504,754 for sidewalk and roadway reconstruction along North Maple Avenue.

“Transportation infrastructure investments are key to maintaining safe, walkable communities,” Collett said in a statement. “I am proud to have secured this funding for improvement projects across my district that will enhance pedestrian safety, reduce traffic congestion, and boost our local economy.”
