If you don’t think of senior living as a chance to expand your horizons, you haven’t visited White Horse Village. On our campus nestled in a rural setting in Edgmont Township, Delaware County, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to pursue your hobbies and explore new interests and passions.

Find your niche

There are plenty of things to do,” resident Mary Hankins said. “You can just sit home if you want to. But you’re drawn out here with all the opportunities.”

You can learn to dance. Carve a sculpture. Take trips to museums, restaurants, shopping destinations and cultural events. Play a wide range of sports, from outdoor games like bocce and shuffleboard to Wii bowling or Wii baseball.

Enroll in continuing education classes. Learn from expert speakers on history and culture. Advocate for social issues you feel passionate about. Cultivate a garden. And much more.

We’re a community where people enjoy using the talents and skills they’ve built up over a lifetime to benefit everyone. For example, residents with tech skills volunteer to help their neighbors with questions they may have, from setting up a smart TV to figuring out a problem with a phone.

There are many other opportunities for involvement, like with the Residents Association and its many community events, such as the annual food drive to benefit area food banks. If you have a passion or talent, there’s a way to use it here.

“It’s a very active community; that’s what we were looking for,” said Bill Hibschman, who moved to White Horse Village with his wife, Pat, a little over four years ago and has enjoyed serving on the Residents Association Council.

Find your new friends

Our welcoming community is a place to form strong connections.

“I can’t believe how much like the college experience this is, except that we don’t have class requirements,” said Nancy Hopko, a longtime Villanova University faculty member who moved here from Bryn Mawr.

No, you’re not worrying about exams, learning dorm rules or trying to find a major that’s a good fit. But you will find a group of peers at a similar stage in life, interacting with each other in a shared space that promotes deep friendships.

“It’s very easy to get involved,” Hopko said. “I set foot on this property and felt so at home. I love being in a rural-flavored environment that is still close to Philadelphia.”

Residents can choose from a range of independent living options depending on their preferences, ranging from 500 to 3,200 square feet. The community is spaced out with plenty of green space like a small town.

The Clubhouse serves as a central hub, a place for people to gather and share cuisine prepared by our expert dining team, grab a coffee, work in the woodshop or art studio, visit the Wellness Center to achieve fitness goals and just spend time together.

When she and her wife first visited, Mary Hankins recalled: “We walked around the clubhouse, and everyone was so nice. Everyone smiled and said hello, even though they hadn’t seen us before.”

Moving into a senior living environment means the chance to do more, not less. Let the adventure begin!
