RADNOR – Radnor officials are warning the public after a wild animal bit someone walking a dog in Wayne.
According to police, the victim was walking her dog along the 400 block of West Wayne Avenue when she was bitten by a fox March 18. The victim reported that the fox appeared to be sick.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The fox was unable to be located. Police are urging those in the area to be aware of their surroundings and report any sightings of the potentially sick animal to police by dialing 9-1-1.
There have also been a couple of other incidents of rabid animals in Radnor. Township officials have reported that dogs being walked at Skunk Hollow Park have come in contact with rabid animals in recent weeks.
“There were two cases of rabies in the township — skunk Hollow — two raccoons I believe. So the dogs who had come into contact with those rabid animals had been vaccinated … so just an important reminder to get pets vaccinated,” Dr. Lisa Hamaker Dumin, a member of Radnor’s Board of Health, said during its monthly meeting Monday night.
