LOWER MERION — Lower Merion police reported that two men from Peru have been charged following a burglary and an attempted burglary in Bryn Mawr and Villanova.
According to police, on April 23 a burglary occurred at a home on the 700 block of John Barry Drive in Bryn Mawr. A short time later, an attempted burglary took place at a home on the 600 block of Cedar Lane in Villanova.
Both incidents were reported to police between 8 and 9 p.m.
Responding officers developed a description of the suspects. A short time later, police in Upper Merion stopped a vehicle that was displaying a license plate reported stolen from Tredyffrin Township.
Police say investigators were able to connect the men in the car with the Lower Merion incidents.
Police identified the suspects as Jeffrey Saldarriaga, 22, a Peruvian national with ties to Irvington, New Jersey, and Johasir Cisterna, 22, a Peruvian national with ties to Baltimore.
They were charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, theft and related offenses. They were both remanded to Montgomery County Prison on April 25 in lieu of $75,000 cash bail.
“The Lower Merion Police, in conjunction with other law enforcement partners, continue to investigate and make progress on these, as well as other recent residential burglaries,” police said in a press release.
