LOWER MERION — Main Line Health is the top-ranked Pennsylvania health system in Forbes magazine’s America’s Best Employers for Diversity for 2024 and ranks 160th out of 500 top U.S. employers across all industries. Main Line Health was 436th last year, its first in the rankings.

“We are proud that Forbes magazine recognizes the track record that we have built at Main Line Health,” said Rosangely Cruz-Rojas, DrPh, Vice President, Chief Diversity and Equity Officer (CDEO). “Having a diverse group of employees and working to ensure their voices are heard throughout the system is a top priority. There is always much more work to do, but we are committed to doing it and continuing to improve.”

To create the list, which was released today, Forbes partnered with Statista, a market research firm that surveyed more than 170,000 individuals working for organizations with at least 1,000 employees within the United States. Survey participants rated their organizations on criteria including age, gender, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQIA+ and general diversity in their current workplace. Participants anonymously rated both their employers and other companies in the industry with which they were familiar.

The promotion of Dr. Cruz-Rojas in August 2023 to the inaugural role of Vice President/CDEO represented Main Line Health’s latest step in highlighting the integral role of diversity and equity and the importance of eliminating disparities in the system’s work and culture.

Three years ago, Main Line Health created its DRE&I department, whose focus is building diversity, respect, equity and inclusion to improve the employee and patient experience. The system is now making robust use of data, creating a dashboard accessible to all hiring managers that shines a light on diversity representation in their departments.

Main Line Health has also taken other steps to improve its employee hiring pipeline, including bringing members to its talent acquisition team focused on areas of the organization where diversity goals have not been met. The Talent Acquisition and Talent Strategy teams are partnering more closely with local Historically Black Colleges and Universities to seek potential job candidates.

Main Line Health also has employee-led resource groups focused on improving the overall employee and patient experience — an initiative that began two years ago and continues to broaden. These groups bring together individuals with shared experiences, interests and goals to build a more inclusive workplace and drive the organization’s strategic priorities and business outcomes.
