It might not seem like it, but spring is really just around the corner.
The Philadelphia Flower Show begins this weekend and runs through March 10. The theme, ‘United by Flowers,’ will bring together the diverse gardening community and, of course, plenty of flowers to tease the nose.
“This year’s theme, ’United by Flowers,’ focuses on coming together and we are excited to be showing all the ways that we build community with one another,” said PHS’s Creative Director and Vice President of the Flower Show, Seth Pearsoll. “From exhibits that show off the celebratory spaces that unite us to offering a series of experiences that are best when done together, there is something for every visitor to share with their loved ones at the Flower Show.”

Meanwhile, a little bit down the road from the convention center, Craftsman Row Saloon ( 112 S. 8th St., Philadelphia) has re-imagined itself into a blooming garden. Just days after its Mardi Gras celebration ended, Craftsman row is now filled with blooms and a spring freshness.
“The Mardi Gras decorations from February have been entirely replaced by thousands of flowers, boxwood, and some trees and vines compliment the feel and transport you to a blooming garden,” said Co-Owner George Tsiouris. “The floor to ceiling transformation continues both inside the dining room and outside. The nice weather, the early spring buds across the city and the return of the Philadelphia Flower Show motivated us to pull the trigger and create our own special garden themed experience. For this year, we went over the top with even more beautiful blooms, more decorations and more floral inspired foods.”
Craftsman Row is known for it’s over-the-top milkshakes and the blooming garden adds Wild(Flower) about you, a milkshake made with local chocolate ice cream, white chocolate and edible floral bark, strawberry jam puff, rose dust, green sprinkles, whipped cream.
On the appetizer menu is a new twist on an old favorite. The popular French Fry Bouquet is now enhanced with shrimp and bacon Bouquet (fried, bacon roses, fries, diced tomato, chives and spicy ranch) or chicken fingers (house-breaded, fries and honey-mustard, parsley).
Don’t miss the new Blooming Burger, which has been elevated and now includes 2 smashed patties, american cheese, pickles, tomato, spicy remoulade, spring mix and blooming onion on a martins potato roll.
The bar is also offering flower-themed drinks. Those include the Botanical Blend Mule (vodka, lavender water, ginger beer, lavender-dusted lemon wheel), the Spring Into The Season Bees Knees (gin, lemon, honey, orchid) and the Fresh Affirmation Sangria (pinot grigio, peach, blackberry, lime), among others.
“Cocktails will boast all the floral feels and come with edible flowers and the best tastes of the garden,” said co-owner Vasilik Tsiouris.
